Together with our partner Three Peas, IsraAID Greece operates Sindos Community Centre, close to Thessaloniki in northern Greece. The centre provides a comprehensive programme of informal education and psychosocial support activities designed to support the long-term integration of the refugee community in the area. Activities are delivered by refugee and local Greek educators and psychosocial support staff.

For adults this includes English and Greek classes, job preparedness training, cultural awareness workshops and art therapy. School-aged children attend an after-school support programme of Greek, Maths and English classes, as well as art and social emotional learning. The centre also offers an early childhood development programme for pre-school children.

On Lesvos, IsraAID Greece operates the “Secret Garden Educational Centre”, a facility providing non formal educational for refugee children aged 6-12 living in the camp of Moria.

Children attend daily classes in English, Farsi, Greek and Maths, with lessons delivered by teachers from within the refugee community. Children are also supported to develop their emotional resilience through a Social Emotional Learning program delivered by the IsraAID Greece psychosocial support team.
